Once upon a time in Lancaster, CA, there was a curious 7-year-old boy named Sprout who loved spending time in his backyard exploring the wonders of nature. One sunny day, as he sat beneath the shade of a large oak tree, Sprout began to wonder about all the different parts that made up a tree.
With a rumble in his tummy, Sprout jumped up and ran to the kitchen to grab some snacks for his adventure. Armed with a bag of apple slices, a handful of almonds, and a bottle of water, he headed back outside to begin his lesson.
Sitting back down beneath the oak tree, Sprout took a big bite of his apple slice and thoughtfully chewed as he began to study the branches above him. “I wonder what each part of the tree is called,” he mused to himself. “Let’s find out together!” Sprout exclaimed, eager to learn more.
As he continued to munch on his snacks, Sprout discovered that the branches of the tree were like the arms reaching out to the sky, soaking up the sun’s rays. The leaves acted like little solar panels, turning sunlight into food for the tree. “Just like how I need my snacks for energy!” Sprout exclaimed, a twinkle in his eye.
Next, Sprout turned his attention to the trunk of the tree, noticing the rough bark that protected the delicate inner layers. “The trunk is like the tree’s backbone, strong and sturdy,” Sprout observed, feeling a sense of awe for the tree’s resilience.
With his water bottle in hand, Sprout poured a little water onto the ground at the base of the tree, watching as the roots drank it up eagerly. “The roots are like the tree’s straw, sucking up water and nutrients from the soil,” Sprout explained to himself, feeling proud of his newfound knowledge.
Feeling inspired, Sprout decided to share his snack time tree lesson with his friends at school the next day. “I wonder what snacks they’ll bring to learn about trees with me!” Sprout thought excitedly, already looking forward to their next adventure in tree education.
And so, Sprout’s love for trees and learning continued to grow, fueled by his curiosity and a few delicious snacks along the way. Who knows what mysteries and discoveries awaited him in the world of nature, but one thing was for sure—Sprout was ready for them all.

Sprout discovers how trees grow—with a snack in one hand and curiosity in the other!
Scout Needs Your Help!
Hey there, young explorers! Scout here, and I need your help with something important. As we all know, trees are incredible beings that provide us with oxygen, shade, and so much more. But did you know that sometimes trees need a little help from us too?
One thing that trees really don’t like is when people climb on their branches or disturb their fallen nests. It’s important to remember that trees are living things, and we should always treat them with respect.
So, I’m challenging you to a fun and easy task: the Tree Respect Challenge! All you have to do is pledge to never climb on tree branches or disturb any fallen bird nests that you may come across. By doing this simple act of kindness, you’ll be helping to keep our tree friends happy and healthy.
Remember, trees may not be able to speak, but they can definitely feel when they are being treated with care and respect. Let’s show our appreciation for these amazing natural wonders by being mindful of how we interact with them.
So, are you up for the challenge, little nature enthusiasts? Let’s work together to create a world where trees and humans can coexist in harmony. I believe in you!
